AircraftPower S 2.1

AircraftPower S serves as the iPhone counterpart to the existing iPad app, AircraftPower. This application specializes in Aircraft Engine Performance, utilizing a standard reciprocating engine performance model to compute and present sea level and altitude performance for 74 normally-aspirated Continental® engine models as well as 107 normally-aspirated Lycoming® engine models.

The application features a graphic display that charts engine performance while also illustrating the manual construction method for determining altitude performance—an approach often covered in ground school but easily forgotten thereafter. As users adjust input values such as manifold pressure (or percentage rated power), RPM, pressure altitude (or indicated altitude with altimeter setting), and outside air temperature, the application displays corresponding power output and percentage power (or required manifold pressure). Dotted lines and colored dots within the graphic follow the manual construction method, providing a visual representation of changing parameters. While these graphics may not be essential, they are both educational and engaging.

User preferences can be customized to select either English or metric units for altitude, temperature, manifold pressure, altimeter setting, and power output, although it's noteworthy that the graphic display is consistently presented in English units. Additionally, users can opt for default values across input types and engine models. There is flexibility to input either indicated altitude instead of pressure altitude or percentage rated power rather than manifold pressure.
